  • Orthopedic Trauma Surgery (SA197833) Albany, Georgia as Direct Hire Feb 4, 2021 This southwest Georgia Health System is currently seeking a board-certified/board eligible Orthopedic Surgeon, fellowship trained in Trauma Surgery. Position Overview: Seeking Level 2 Trauma Designation Not RVU based – base salary (working with Finance team for details) Have a medical director for trauma surgery (responsible for leading and implementing entire trauma program) and one for orthopedics (outpatient services). Monday – Friday model/schedule, days (7a – 5p) Flexibility required as the program is being built – flexibility is key! Designated trauma room in the OR, but no specific block time for this position Call - If inpatient, whoever is on first call; if outpatient, whoever is on call for office (this is spilt between docs and APPs) Rotated call with Ortho surgeons Seeking someone that’s interested in leading the development of the program along with working independently. day per week will see follow-up patients in orthopedic office Goal is to have 2 APPs that will assist and round on patients Case mix Trauma cases, infections, hip fractures- all trauma cases from Sept 2019-June 2020= 446 that were minor/no activations and 27% admitted; 171 level 2 and 40% admitted; and 166 level 1 and 74% admitted Need someone that can do any case We currently don’t do pelvic/acetabular(um) cases. Currently sent to Macon or Tallahassee. Why Trauma 2 designation? The reason for seeking Level 2 designation is tied to our impact on our community. Being level 2 will allow a greater service to our patient population and there is currently a community need/regional need. We hope to be ready for a trauma designation site visit by April 2021. Our General Trauma Surgeon/Medical Director was hired to oversee the entire trauma program and implementation. There will be heads in certain areas to include the ortho traumatologist role. They will have the opportunity to help build program and serve as an important physician liaison.
